Privacy Policy

This is an interim notice. AstroClipz changed from a tool its developer ran for himself into a hosted service other people can sign up for. The policy previously published here described the older arrangement and is no longer accurate, so it has been replaced with this shorter, correct statement while the full policy is finalised.

1. Who we are

AstroClipz is operated by Shah-Meer Chadder Nazir, based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the Service.

2. What AstroClipz is today

AstroClipz is a hosted web service at app.astroclipz.com. Account holders sign in and use it to capture moments from Twitch livestreams, edit them into short vertical videos, and publish them to their own connected TikTok account. Each account holder controls their own clips and their own connected account.

AstroClipz is currently a private beta and accounts are invite-only. Sign-in is limited to accounts we have approved in advance. We intend to open sign-up to the public; this notice will be updated when we do.

Every clip is reviewed and approved by the person publishing it. Nothing is posted automatically.

3. Data we handle

• Account information. Your email address, and — if you sign in with Google — the identifier Google gives us for your account. We use it to sign you in and to keep your data separate from everyone else's.
• Platform authorisation tokens. When you connect a TikTok account through TikTok's official OAuth flow, we receive tokens for that account. They are encrypted at rest, used only to upload the clips you approve and to read the resulting post statistics, and never shared with anyone.
• Basic connected-account information. TikTok returns a display name and avatar as part of connecting, used only to show you which account you are connected to.
• Video and clips. The livestream footage captured for your account and the clips you make from it.
• Public livestream chat. To find notable moments, the Service reads public chat messages from the streams it is set to watch. It is used for moment detection only, is not linked to identified individuals, and is not published or sold.
• Technical logs. Our web server keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

4. Data we do not handle

• No data about other platform users' private accounts, followers, messages or behaviour.
• No payment or financial information.
• No sale of any data, and no sharing with advertisers or data brokers — ever.

5. Where data is stored

Service data is held on a dedicated server we rent in Helsinki, Finland, operated by Hetzner Online GmbH as our hosting provider. Access tokens are encrypted at rest and kept out of source code and version control.

6. Retention and deletion

Raw footage and rejected clips are deleted automatically on a schedule. You can delete your account from within the app, which removes your clips, your footage and your connected-account tokens. Tokens are also deleted when you disconnect an account, and you can revoke our access at any time in TikTok's own settings. The full policy will set out each retention period.

7. This website

This marketing website is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. GitHub may collect standard technical information such as IP addresses in its server logs, as described in GitHub's privacy statement. GitHub Pages is operated by GitHub, Inc. in the United States, so some visitor data is processed there. The app at app.astroclipz.com is separate: it sets a session cookie so you can stay signed in.

8. Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EU you have rights over your personal data, including access, rectification and erasure. If you believe we hold data relating to you — for example you are a creator whose stream was clipped, or you appear in a clip — contact us at the address above and we will respond. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

9. A full policy is being finalised

A complete privacy policy, covering our lawful bases, our processors, retention periods and our postal address, is being prepared with professional advice and will replace this notice. People who hold an account have separately been shown and accepted the Terms and Privacy Policy presented inside the app when they signed up.

The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version of this notice.
